my complaint with the “It gets better” movement is that it is only aimed at gay kids….What about the kids who got picked on because they were nerds, fat, poor, just different…..For all the good it does it is just aiming itself at one segment of people who need encouragement. Honestly I think this stuff should be applied for all those who were made to feel less than normal. I was a poor fat nerdy kid who spent most of high school severely depressed and suicidal because I was made fun of every day…I would have loved for someone to tell me this..to make me realize that it wouldn’t go on forever…
I agree. Hearing this instead of being teased all the time for being weird & fat in school would have been nice.
Know what’s so funny about this? How the blue-eyed White folks know this is an exercise (as in not real life!) and can’t stand taking the shit people of color deal with for a couple of hours before they’re screaming and crying and storming off. They know it’s fake, and they still can’t deal!
